How to Furnish Your Condo
March 29, 2019Blog
Designing the look of a house and a condo are 2 very different things. A condo is typically a much smaller space, which means that you have to scale the furniture appropriately in order to make the condo seem more spacious. Here are some tips on furniture choices for your condo!
Appropriate Furniture
A sofa takes up a lot of space, so try and choose one that’s a 2 seater rather than a 3 seater, depending how small your space is. If you’re going from living in a house to a condo and you want to bring both your loveseat and 3 seaters, then think again. Your condo will likely be overcrowded. Pick one or the other.
Make your condo look more spacious by designing with small furniture. Instead of incorporating a large coffee table, consider using a few small side tables instead as your coffee table.
Consider investing in a glass kitchen table. Glass furniture has the ability to make the room feel lighter, airy and more spacious, especially since the light will reflect off the glass. For seating, either use smaller, thinner chairs, or a bench. Use a bench that will tuck into the dining table to create more space to walk around your kitchen.
The main idea is to avoid bulky furniture that will take up too much space!
Multifunctional Furniture
Embrace a minimalistic living space by purchasing furniture that has multiple purposes. When you buy a coffee table, side table, ottoman or bench, try to purchase one with storage or shelves underneath. This way, you don’t have to find a separate space for all your belongings.
For your front door, purchase a shelf for your shoes that also has a coat rack attached for when your guests come over. Also, instead of having a whole new guest room, buy a sofa that turns into a bed.
Invest in furniture that can be hung on a wall that will also provide some form of storage. For instance, a shelf where you can store books and magazines will surly save you some space. Including a modular wall unit can is also beneficial because it can be used as a shelf for décor such as plants and other accessories. This will save you some floor space and make your home look less cluttered.
